Grabby hands
Here we have documentary evidence of one of Oscar's latest feats of extreme cuteness -- grabbing his feet:

Alas, not all of his new tricks are so cute -- at least not at 6:30 in the morning when you're trying to steal a few more minutes of shut-eye. We've long since grown accustomed to being awoken by our babe's merry babbling and flailing about. But in these last few days, he's added a wicked new implement to his arsenal of cheerful morning annoyances by learning to close his fingers around earlobes and proboscises. Talk about being led around by the nose! He didn't come with a snooze button. In a double bed, you can roll over, but you can't hide.
He's also learned to rock his car seat back and forth by pumping his legs -- so violently, at times, that he gets almost as much out of it as he does the jumper seat. But lately, he's developed a somewhat worrisome behavior -- shimmying forward in the seat and then arcing his back almost enough to get out of the thing. So we're loathe to just leave him in it unbuckled anymore. He clearly can't wait to be crawling and walking.

Last weekend, we went to Cape Cod with Jack and Ginger (above, whose mom, Joan, and her boyfriend Frank have a place in Woods Hole). We were grateful for the sea air, not to mention the king size bed. Here's Grandpa Jack with the boy:

And here's one with Joan:

Fun fact: Turns out we're kinda related to future Connecticut Senator Ned Lamont through marriage, via Joan's family (Ginger's cousin married his sister). Go Ned!
Because no trip through the Nutmeg State is complete without a visit to one of its many fine diners, we alighted at one for a bad cholesterol infusion after a pretty grueling drive. Arteries were hardened, and Oscar practiced his bored/sullen expression in preparation for his distant adolescence:
