Family values

Oscar attended his first protest today, joining mom, dad, Gramma, Clare, Matthew, Patrick and Lizzy, the Rude Mechanical Orchestra and the tens of thousands of New Yorkers who thronged Broadway for the anti-war march.

At just eight weeks, he's already bored with politics, jaded little fella that he is. He slept pretty much straight through it, then came to howling for his dinner in the final stretch -- or maybe it was just our foreign policy that had him fussing. Either way, he had milk while mom had dim sum and dad wandered around stooped over from lugging a sousaphone around all day, whimpering about his back.

I know some people take issue with parents who impose their political views on their children and tote them to protests before they can come to their own conclusions, but I figure he'll have plenty of time when he's older to become a soulless Republican investment banker/apocalyptic born again oil tycoon/war profiteering defense contractor. In the meantime, hey, the family that protests together stays together.
